Plenty of the European top-drivers, including many of last years’ A-finalists, joined the warm-up race, which will be held at this same track in just a few weeks… Though a warm-up, the drivers competed and practiced, looking for best setup.

The Austrian top drivers who were racing at the ‶home※ track were extremely fast during the entire weekend and made the races (and even the practices) extremely exciting and thrilling to watch and compete in. During practice it was Honigl Hubert and Thomas Pumpler who set the fastest times, followed closely by Jilles Groskamp… these racers were expected to be the hottest favourites for the Sunday race.

The first qualifier started at 9:00AM and it was the heat where almost all drivers set their best times. The other heats experienced decreasing racing conditions and as such resulted in decreasing times. As a result, the final qualifying results were based on the first heat, where Jilles Groskamp set a pace of over 3 seconds ahead of Thomas Pumpler and Honigl Hubert.

The finals were extremely exciting, especially the battle between Thomas Pumpler and Honigl Hubert for the second position, consequently pushing on Jilles Groskamp in the lead for the first position. At the start of each final run, huge pressure was put on Jilles Groskamp, but after a few laps Jilles managed to drive through and set a good pace that did not allow others to come close to endanger his leading position. In all three finals Jilles drive through in style from start-to-finish, giving him not only TQ but also winning all three finals!

The warm-up was definitely extremely important for most of the teams, who were looking for the best setup, inserts and additive, eventually testing some new parts and prototypes. Team XRAY brought one of the largest teams, consequently testing and working closely on all the important details, to be well prepared for the European Championship, which will surely again be one of the most exciting and close race. We fully expect that there will be plenty of chances for top drivers with different cars to have a good race and a chance to go for the championship title. In only a few short weeks we will be at the European Championship, so prepare for a great event!
